This week’s SLP Snapshots focus on my pre-school students. Come on in!
Now that Christmas has passed, I’ve redecorated my speech room for winter. I replaced the holiday themed game board with the Winter Wonderland one on the tray of the white board. This was what most of the students noticed first when they walked into the speech room. This pre-K kiddo is using the Speech Therapy for Apraxia – ENDINGS app. Each time she completed 5 sections of 5 sounds, she got to move her game piece one snowflake. If she did a really great job on her level, she got to move two snowflakes.
This is one page from the Winter Early Language File Folder Activities by Miss Speechie at Speech Time Fun. I have all of these products and use each section with many types of student each month. These products are really a must have for SLPs working in early intervention.
Finally, we have a snapshot of the oh-so-popular-with-students, Galaxy Bundle – Reinforcement Card Games from the AGB Speech Therapy store. In this particular activity, students roll the die after a talking turn and try to be the first to cover all the characters on the strip. This kiddo was ready for a challenge and asked to roll two dice for two character strips. He had to give me extra productions and had a blast doing it. The Galaxy Bundle contains:
- A dice game
- A BATTLE! card game
- Two versions of a printable game board (one poster sized and one for a file folder)
- Playing cards for use with multiple games (Go Fish!, Uno, Memory Match, etc.)
- Instructions and suggestions for game play
